From the Practice

It’s real — B2 Direct Care is officially open. Suite 412 · 1776 S Jackson · Denver. Real chairs. A real exam room. Deliberately, no front desk.

In the Kitchen

A simple, vibrant salad that’s as good for you as it tastes. Full of anti-inflammatory polyphenols, plant protein, and fiber.

Ingredients:

• 1 pint strawberries, hulled and quartered

• 5 oz arugula

• 1 (15-oz) can cannellini beans, rinsed and drained

• 2 tbsp olive oil

• 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar

• Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Method:

1. Combine strawberries, arugula, and beans in a large bowl.

2. Whisk together olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Season with salt and pepper.

3. Pour dressing over salad and toss gently to combine.

Field Notes

We often talk about waiting rooms, but in medicine, they’ve become a symbol of the transaction. A place to be processed, slotted, and dispatched. A threshold, however, is different. It implies passage, an invitation to step into something new. This month, as I open the door to Suite 412, I’m thinking about that shift. It’s not just about having a physical space, but about creating a different kind of encounter. One where the time isn't dictated by the clock, but by the conversation. Where the focus is on a deeper understanding, not just a quick fix. It’s a move from being processed to being present, from waiting to welcoming. It’s a threshold we’re crossing together.
