Find Your Fit

Is B2 Direct Care
right for you?

DPC isn't for everyone. This page helps you figure out — honestly — whether this model makes sense for your situation, your insurance, and your health.

Find Your Situation

Which of these
sounds like you?

Pick the scenario that fits best. Each one walks you through the math, the model, and whether B2 makes sense — no sales pitch, just the honest answer.

🩺

I'm navigating complex or transitional care

Recent hospitalization, multiple specialists, medications nobody seems to own. You need someone to quarterback your care.

🏥

I have employer or exchange insurance

You're covered but frustrated — long waits, rushed visits, nobody coordinating the big picture. You're wondering if there's a better way.

🏔

I live in rural Colorado

Three-hour drives for specialist appointments. Local clinics stretched thin. You want a physician who knows you without the commute.

💳

I'm self-pay or uninsured

You don't have insurance — or you do, but it barely covers anything. Every doctor's visit is an out-of-pocket guessing game.

Scenario 1

You have employer or exchange insurance

The frustration is real.
And the math works in your favor.

If you have insurance but still feel like you can't get to a doctor when you need one — 3-week waits, 10-minute visits, nobody who knows your full story — you're not imagining it. The system is designed for volume, not relationship.

The DPC model pairs a B2 membership with a lower-cost high-deductible health plan. You keep insurance for the big stuff. B2 handles everything your primary care physician should have been doing all along. Most people save $2,000–$3,000 per year in the process.

✓ Unlimited visits with Dr. Bost — $0 copay

✓ Direct text and phone access — no phone trees

✓ Same-day or next-day appointments

✓ Wholesale lab pricing — often 80–90% below retail

✓ B2 membership is HSA-eligible as of 2026

2026 HSA update:

DPC memberships are now officially HSA-eligible. If you're on an HDHP, you can pay your B2 membership with pre-tax dollars — an effective 20–30% discount.

Annual Cost Comparison

The annual cost comparison

Monthly premium (Gold PPO) ~$825/mo
Monthly premium (HDHP) ~$500/mo
B2 individual membership $140/mo
Primary care copays (Gold) $600–$1,200/yr
Primary care copays (B2) $0

Annual total (Gold) ~$10,800
Annual total (HDHP + B2) ~$7,680
Potential annual savings ~$3,120+

Estimates based on 2026 Colorado exchange rates. Individual situation varies. Does not account for HSA tax savings, which add an additional 20–30% effective discount on the B2 membership.

Scenario 2

Self-pay or uninsured

You're already paying
out of pocket. Let's make that work.

If you're self-pay — whether by choice or circumstance — every medical interaction is a cost calculation. Urgent care visits run $150–$300. A specialist referral costs hundreds before you've even been seen. And there's no one in charge of the big picture.

A B2 membership replaces the per-visit guessing game with one flat monthly fee. For $140/month, you have a physician you can actually reach — for the questions that would have sent you to urgent care, for the prescription refills, for the lab results that need interpretation.

You still need a catastrophic insurance plan for hospitalizations and emergencies. But for everything below that threshold — the vast majority of your medical life — B2 handles it at a fraction of the per-visit cost.

✓ Replaces urgent care visits for most primary care needs

✓ Wholesale lab pricing — a $200 panel often costs $15–$25

✓ Cash-pay imaging guidance — Dr. Bost knows the best rates

✓ One physician managing all prescriptions and refills

✓ Pair with a catastrophic plan for full protection

The self-pay math, honestly

Three urgent care visits per year: $450–$900. Two specialist consultations: $400–$800. Three lab panels at retail: $300–$600. Annual total without a primary care relationship: $1,150–$2,300+ — and that assumes nothing unexpected happens.

A B2 membership runs $1,680/year. For most self-pay patients, the math is close to break-even on cost alone — and dramatically better on access, coordination, and peace of mind.

The wildcard is the catastrophic event. B2 is not a replacement for insurance. Dr. Bost will tell you exactly what coverage level you need alongside your membership — and help you find it.

Rural Colorado

Expert Denver advocacy.
No drive required.

If you live in rural Colorado — the Western Slope, San Luis Valley, Eastern Plains, or anywhere outside the Denver Metro — you know the routine: long drives for specialist appointments, fragmented records between local clinics and Front Range hospitals, and the feeling that nobody has the full picture.

Scenario 4

Complex or Transitional Care

This is the gap B2 was built to close.

You just left the hospital with five new medications, three specialist referrals, and a follow-up appointment in six weeks with a doctor you've never met. Nobody has explained what happened. Nobody is in charge.

Or you've been managing a complex chronic condition for years — diabetes, heart failure, COPD, something that requires real coordination — and you've been doing it yourself because no one has ever taken ownership of the whole picture.

This is exactly what Dr. Bost trained for. Fifteen years as a hospitalist — the physician in charge of the most complex, most vulnerable moments of a patient's hospital stay — watching what happens when that expertise disappears the moment someone goes home. B2 exists to be the thing that was missing.

✓ Post-discharge follow-up within 48 hours when feasible

✓ Full medication reconciliation — across every prescriber

✓ Consolidated record from every hospital, specialist, and clinic

✓ Specialist coordination — Dr. Bost talks to them so you don't have to

✓ Clear plan in plain language — not medical jargon

✓ Ongoing access throughout your recovery and beyond

"I wish every one of my hospital patients had this waiting for them at home."

Dr. Bost spent fifteen years watching what happens after discharge. Patients who managed their conditions well in the hospital — blood pressure controlled, medications adjusted, follow-up planned — and then fell apart in the weeks that followed because no one was watching.

Complex care patients are B2's most natural fit. The hospitalist background means Dr. Bost is comfortable managing the things that most primary care physicians would refer out immediately — high acuity, high medication burden, multi-specialist coordination.

If you've been told your situation is "too complicated" for a regular primary care doctor, it's probably exactly complicated enough for B2.

Honest Assessment

When B2 is not the right fit.

Dr. Bost believes in alignment, not volume. If B2 isn't right for you, he'll tell you — and help you find a better option.

You're on Medicare or Colorado Medicaid

Due to current CMS regulations and Colorado state law, B2 Direct Care cannot currently accept patients enrolled in Medicare or Colorado Medicaid. This may change — but for now, those patients are not eligible.

→ Dr. Bost can help point you toward appropriate resources.

You primarily need specialist care

B2 is primary care. If your main need is ongoing specialist management — oncology, nephrology, complex cardiology — B2 can coordinate and support, but it's not a substitute for those relationships.

→ B2 works best alongside specialist care, not instead of it.

You need chronic controlled substance management

B2 does not provide ongoing opioid or controlled substance pain management. This is a scope boundary, not a judgment. If this is your primary medical need, a different practice model will serve you better.

→ Dr. Bost will refer you appropriately and honestly.

You're looking for emergency or urgent-only care

B2 is a longitudinal relationship — it works best when Dr. Bost knows your history. If you're looking for a one-time urgent visit or an ER alternative, this model isn't the right structure.

→ For emergencies, always call 911 or go to the nearest ED.

Still Not Sure?

Just ask. There's no sales pitch here.

A 15-minute call with Dr. Bost costs nothing and commits you to nothing. Describe your situation — your insurance, your health history, your frustrations — and he'll give you a straight answer about whether B2 is the right fit. If it's not, he'll tell you that too.
